The Changing Face of Women in Agriculture
Presented By: Ginelle Pidwerbesky
Board Chair & Co-Founder — Women in Ag
Schedule: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17th
Ginelle Pidwerbesky has grown up with two passions: agriculture and music. From a young age she was involved in the family farm near Borden, SK and upon completing a degree in Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan she went back to farm full-time with her Dad. It was during this time that she, along with her sister and a friend, realized the need for a way to connect women in the industry. Though they were acutely aware that there were women in agriculture that were stepping up to leadership positions and making a difference, the trio wanted to make it easier for younger women like themselves entering the industry, to connect and learn from such influencers. As a result, they developed Saskatchewan Women in Ag, a non-profit organization, whose mission is to empower, support and connect women in agriculture, while strengthening the industry as a whole. The organization, founded in 2012, has evolved into a board of eight directors, organizing committees made up of more than 15 experienced individuals, and a membership of 70+, all with various backgrounds in the agriculture industry.
In addition to her Board Chair position with Women in Ag, Ginelle continues to develop her other passion, music. She has released three songs to Canadian Country Radio under the name Ginelle James, and launched her debut album to fans this past February titled “Last Call.” Ginelle currently resides in Calgary, AB, and works full-time as an Area Business Manager for ADAMA Canada. At Women in Ag, we believe women can do extraordinary things for our industry when given the opportunity to connect with and support each other. We support, empower and connect all women in agriculture in order to strengthen the industry as a whole!
